HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University cross country teams have signed three runners to National Letters of Intent for the 2008 season.

Eddie Griffin will join the Norse on the men’s side, while Andrea Rose and Jerrica Maddox are set to run for the women.

Griffin is a 2008 graduate of Fern Creek Traditional High School in Louisville, Ky. Griffin placed third in the 2007 KHSAA 3A state championships with a five-kilometer time of 15:54.56. Griffin also placed first at the Jefferson County Championships and at the KTCCCA Meet of Champions. Griffin also lettered in track and baseball.

Rose is a 2008 graduate of Campbell County High School in Alexandria, Ky. Rose was a KHSAA 3A individual state qualifier in 2007, finishing with a time of 20:47, her personal best.

Maddox is a 2008 graduate of Scott High School in Covington, Ky. Maddox was named the Runner of the Year by the NKAC in her junior and senior seasons, as well as Enquirer Runner of the Year and All-State in 2006. Maddox finished seventh at the 2006 KHSAA 3A state championships with a time of 19:40, and broke a Mason County course record with a 19:09 time in the five-kilometer.

The Norse will open their 2008 cross country season on Aug. 30 at the Dayton Flyer 5K in Kettering, Ohio.
