PERRY PARK,
Ky. – Andrew Jewell shot a 4-under-par 68 Monday
to help the Northern Kentucky University men’s golf team
win the NKU Fall Invitational at the Perry Park Golf Course.
NKU
won the event with a 5-under-par (292-279 571) team score. Indianapolis
finished second in the event at even par (291-285 576). Bellarmine
came
up third (292-296 588) with a 12-over-par result, while Spalding
(313-311 624) rounded out the field.
Jewell, a senior and graduate
of Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy, ended the tournament at
4-under par (140) to finish second individually, just one stroke
behind medalist Justin Hueber (71-68 139) of Indianapolis.
Eric
Fuldner (72-71 140) tied for fourth place in the event at 1-under-par,
one of five men to shoot under par on the tournament. Danny Lewis
(73-72 145) finished sixth with a 1-over-par performance. Tyler
Adkins (80-68 148) shot a 6-over-par to share eighth place, while
Carl Hays (75-75 150) ended in a tie for 13th place after an 8-over-par
tournament.
Freshman Jim Akerstrom, a native of Danderyd, Sweden,
rounded out the team scoring with a 9-over-par (76-75 151) for
an 18th-place finish.
NKU individual
participants included Clint Kohls (75-77 152, T-19th), Shawn
Chadwell (76-76—152, T-19th),
Will Brown (75-77 152, T-19th), Cody Moore (87-75—162, 30th)
and Austin Derkson (81-87 168, 32nd).
NKU will be back in action
Sunday at the Cougar Classic in Edwardsville, Ill.
