HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky.
- Five Northern Kentucky University student-athletes have received
individual honors in their respective sports.
Three NKU baseball players
- Conor McGeehan, Kory Lonergan and Derrik Moeves - were named second
team All-North Central Region.
NKU women’s golfer
Kim Keyer-Scott has been selected to the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA
District IV All-Academic second team. Norse men’s golfer Curtis
Phelps has been named PING/NCAA Division II honorable mention All-American
by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
McGeehan, a junior catcher
from Lebanon, Ohio, batted .295 with a team-leading six home runs
this season. He also had 27 runs batted in. Lonergan, a sophomore
shortstop and a graduate of Dixie Heights High School, batted .322
with 11 doubles and scored a team-leading 36 runs.
Moeves, a junior pitcher
and a graduate of Highlands High School, became NKU’s all-time
career strikeout leader this season with 259. He posted a 7-5 record
with a 2.34 earned run average this season and struck out 99 batters.
Moeves also had seven complete games and two shutouts.
Keyer-Scott, a native
of Cincinnati, Ohio, is a four-time All-American for the NKU women’s
golf program. She was named honorable mention All-American by the
National Golf Coaches Association last week.
Phelps, a senior from
Owensboro, Ky., captured the medal at the NCAA II Great Lakes Regional
and led NKU to 12th-place honors at the NCAA Division II national
finals.
In addition, NKU head
coach Daryl Landrum was named the Great Lakes Region Coach of the
Year in men’s golf by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
Phelps and teammate David Shearer were each named All-Great Lakes
Region.
