HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Kim Ingle scored 22 of her game-high 27 points in the second half as Georgetown (Ky.) College rolled to an 85-64 victory over Northern Kentucky University on Tuesday night in Regents Hall.

Neeley Thomas added 17 points for Georgetown, which defeated NKU for the first time in 10 meetings. The Tigers used full-court pressure to force an up-tempo game and made 55.8 percent of their shots from the field.

Georgetown (3-0) built a 21-11 lead midway through the first half, but NKU battled back behind the inside play of Connie Myers. The 5-foot-10 senior scored 13 of her 21 points during the first half as the Norse cut the deficit to 39-35 at the break.

After Karyn Creager drained a three-pointer to bring NKU within 45-43 with 15:18 remaining, Georgetown took control of the game. The Tigers used a 26-6 run over the next seven minutes to take a 71-49 lead and were never threatened. Ingle sparked the Georgetown run with 12 points.

Georgetown led by as many as 23 points (80-57) and coasted to its first-ever victory against NKU, which dropped to 0-1.

Myers used 9-for-11 shooting from the field to score her 21 points, and she also added a game-high eight rebounds. Myers now has 848 career points for the Norse.

NKU shot 52 percent from the field, but the Norse committed 21 turnovers. Georgetown’s relentless full-court press caused 12 turnovers in the second half.

Candas Smith finished with 15 points and six assists for Georgetown, while Katie Columbus added 10 points. The Tigers won the rebounding battle by a 28-24 margin and used 20-for-23 shooting from the free throw line to post the victory.

Sarah Woods netted 10 points for NKU, which made just four three-point shots in 17 attempts. Brittany Winner added eight points off the bench, while Elizabeth Burrows dished out a team-leading seven assists.

Nikki Perkins scored six points and had four assists for the Norse, who lost a home opener for the first time since a 73-71 setback to Ashland University in 1997.

NKU will play host to Central State University at 7 p.m. next Tuesday in Regents Hall.
