ALLENDALE, Mich. - The
Northern Kentucky University women’s golf team finished third
at the NCAA Division II East Region Tournament on Tuesday with a
two-day total of 974.
NKU, which held a five-stroke
lead going into the final 18 holes, shot 333 (+45) Tuesday. Grand
Valley State captured the team title with a score of 952 as medalist
Melissa Sneller shot a 3-over-par 75 in the final round at the Meadows
Golf Course.
Sneller finished with
a total of 234 (+18) to edge NKU’s Bianca Hutton (237) for
the medal.
Ferris State took second-place
honors with a score of 959 to qualify for the NCAA Division II national
finals. NKU’s Kim Keyer-Scott finished in a tie for fifth
place with a score of 239.
Keyer-Scott and Hutton
both qualified for the NCAA Division II national finals as individuals.
The top two teams from each regional advance to the national finals,
as do the top two individuals not on those teams.
The national finals
will be held May 11-14 at Albuquerque, N.M.
