MISSION, Kan. – The Northern Kentucky University women’s
soccer team climbed the NCAA Division II national poll once again,
gaining four spots this week to land at No. 12.
The Norse won twice
during the opening weekend of Great Lakes Valley Conference play,
defeating Lewis 3-0 and Wisconsin-Parkside 3-2.
Jayme Light earned GLVC player of the week honors after scoring
goals in each contest, including the game-winning penalty kick
against UWP.
Jenna Kramer, returning to the goalkeeper position
after an injury shortened her 2006 season and prevented her from
starting the
2007 campaign, recorded both wins in net as the starter.
No.
21 Rockhurst is the only other GLVC team ranked nationally.
NKU
(5-0, 2-0 GLVC) will host non-conference opponent Ashland on
Friday at 5 p.m. The Norse close out the four-game homestand
against GLVC rival Bellarmine at noon Sunday. COMPLETE
