HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University women’s soccer team opens the season Aug. 24 when the Norse host Ohio University in an exhibition contest at the Town & Country Sports Complex in Wilder, Ky.

NKU holds a 3-1 record against Division I opponents in its history, with its only loss being a 3-2 overtime defeat at the hands of Miami (Ohio) in NKU’s inaugural season.

NKU’s regular season begins on Aug. 29 when the Norse travel to Athens, W. Va., for a four-team weekend tournament, with NKU taking on host Concord that Friday before facing Davis & Elkins to wrap up the weekend.

NKU plays host to Findlay on Sept. 7 to open the regular-season home schedule. It will mark the first of four camper games in which NKU soccer camp attendees can receive free admission by wearing their camp t-shirt to the game.

NKU will begin its quest for an unprecedented seventh Great Lakes Valley Conference title on Sept. 12 at Wisconsin-Parkside, following up with a Sunday matinee against Lewis. Quincy (Sept. 19) and Missouri S&T (Sept. 21) visit Wilder, Ky., the following weekend for a pair of NKU home contests.

The Norse then make the long trip to Drury (Sept. 26) and Rockhurst (Sept. 28) for GLVC matches before a rare Wednesday tilt sends them to Ashland on Oct. 1 for their final non-conference clash. The week closes out with a road match at Saint Joseph’s on Sunday, Oct. 5.

The following weekend, the Norse will entertain Missouri-St. Louis (Oct. 10) and Southern Indiana (Oct. 12) before taking their final regular-season road tripto meet both Kentucky Wesleyan (Oct. 17) and Bellarmine (Oct. 19).

The regular season ends Oct. 26 with a home matinee against Indianapolis.

The Norse return leading scorer Lauren Franzen, who netted seven goals and notched 19 points in 2007, as well as Kendall Day, whose six goals and five assists marked a solid freshman campaign.
