HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University women’s soccer team returned to the national rankings this week, coming in at No. 20 in the NCAA Division II poll.

The Norse (5-1, 2-1 Great Lakes Valley Conference) dropped out of the poll after a 3-0 loss at the hands of Wisconsin-Parkside, which stands at No. 8 in this week’s poll. Solid wins last weekend over conference favorite Quincy and Missouri S&T propelled the Norse back into the spotlight.

Grand Valley State held on to the nation’s top spot for the fourth consecutive week. West Chester (Pa.), West Florida, Truman State (Mo.) and Winona State (Minn.) rounded out the top five.

Two goals each from Kelly Sullivan and Lauren Franzen helped NKU take a 6-1 win from Missouri S&T on Sunday afternoon. Sullivan now leads the Norse with four goals and 12 points on the season.

NKU hits the road this weekend to meet defending GLVC champion Drury on Friday. The Norse play Rockhurst on Sunday.

SCHEDULE NOTE: NKU’s game against Lewis, which was postponed due to inclement weather Sept. 14, will not be made up.
