Jensons late three-pointers help NKU improve to 17-2 |

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Michelle Cottrell scored 16 points and grabbed five rebounds Saturday afternoon as the Northern Kentucky University womens basketball team defeated Lewis University, 72-63, at the Neil Carey Arena. NKU held a 62-58 lead with just more then two minutes remaining in the game when Jessica Jenson hit a three-pointer to give the Norse a 65-58 advantage. Jenson later hit another three-pointer to give NKU a 68-60 lead, and the Norse held on to win their third straight game. Heather Livingstone added 14 points and a career-high 10 assists as NKU improved to 17-2 overall, 11-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Norse are ranked No. 7 nationally in the Division II poll. NKU built a 34-27 halftime lead by forcing Lewis (8-11, 5-8 GLVC) into 19 first-half turnovers. Cottrell, who now ranks No. 3 on the NKU all-time scoring list with 1,516 career points, scored 10 in the first half to lead the Norse. |
