Norse win important regional contest on the road |

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - Bessie Black broke a 2-2 tie with a goal midway through the second half Sunday afternoon as the Northern Kentucky University womens soccer team defeated Truman State University, 3-2. NKU (16-1-2) took a 2-0 halftime lead as Tricia Ruark and Amanda Trout both scored goals, but Truman State rallied to tie the match at 2-2 early in the second half as Molly Adams and Nicole Thorpe scored. The score remained tied until the 65:48 mark, when Black beat Truman State goalie Emily Huyck for a goal to give the Norse a 3-2 lead. It was an important regional victory for NKU, which is ranked No. 2 in the latest NCAA II Central Region ratings. Truman State is rated No. 4 in the Central Region. NKU has wrapped up the No. 1 seed for the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament and will host the semifinals and finals of that event Nov. 4-5 at the Town & Country Sports Complex in Wilder, Ky.
